DEM Museums publishes visitor-area access of 09:00–19:00 and a Friday closure of 12:30–14:30. Read these hours alongside the conditions of your own booking.
Plan from the current visitor information
The DEM FAQ reviewed on 9 September 2026 gives 09:00–19:00 for the tickets described there. An older seasonal reference to an 08:00 opening should not be treated as a promise of access with your ticket.
Friday prayer closure
The cultural visitor route closes from 12:30 to 14:30 for Friday prayer. Plan Hagia Sophia after 14:30, leaving the earlier part of the day for Basilica Cistern or lunch. Blue Mosque visitor admission also begins at 14:30 on Fridays. Allow for queues when visits resume.
Arrive with enough time for the gallery
19:00 is not a guaranteed last-admission time. Allow about 45–60 minutes inside, plus the ramp and mandatory security. Leave longer for mosaics and photography. An early arrival can help with planning, but no time of day guarantees an empty gallery.
Save your ticket before setting out
The recommended email-QR option starts from €28.45 and sends the entry QR after booking. Go to the signed visitor entrance without a museum collection stop. The separate €28 kiosk alternative is also bought online but needs ticket collection first. Neither option removes security screening.

What to check on your visit date
Confirm the ticket session, current visitor notices and any temporary works or religious-event restrictions. The ground-floor prayer area is separate from the paid cultural route. Cover shoulders and knees; women should bring a head covering.
